Mythology Nature Study

These lessons are included in our Mythology Elementary Unit.

Module 3: The Ibis and Thoth

• Discover how the sacred ibis is uniquely adapted to life in the marsh and explore the physics behind their migratory v-formation.
• Explore the role of Thoth, the god of writing, magic, and knowledge, in Egyptian myth.
• Learn how to write your name in hieroglyphs on a cartouche.
• Be Thoth's apprentice and begin a collection of daily scrolls.
• Create a flying ibis craft.

Module 4: The Jackal and Anubis

• Meet the Egyptian jackal and discover its unique adaptations for life in the desert.
• Explore the role of the jackal-headed deity, Anubis, the Egyptian god of mummification and Lord of the Afterlife.
• Conduct a mummification experiment.
• Sculpt a sacred Anubis mask like those worn by the embalming priests.
